Homey Home Home

Well, my week was shocking and unexpected. We were set to have a baptism on Saturday, a 12 year old boy named Jr. He told us that he does not feel ready to make the commitment of baptism. He has a few learning and physical disabilities and has trouble sharing his feelings. I really respect him for being up front with us and voicing his concerns. He came to churchthis Sunday with his less-active sister and mother though. He seemed to enjoy it and is definitely progressing. None the less, Sister Mafi and I were pretty down when he told us this news.

We decided to fast as a companionship. We know he Lord has a plan for Jr., so we fasted to know of how we could help the Lord's plan come about. I have seen blessings already from our reliance on the Lord. We were blessed to find 5 new investigators this week. I know, CRAZY! Each one of them is seeking to know more, seeking earnestly and sincerely.

On Friday, the day we hold our booth on BYUI's campus, we received 3 referrals. We contacted one of them that day. She is from Morocco and is of Islamic belief. She says she is not interested but has always been amazed by the similarities in the restored church and the Muslim church. We will keep visiting her.
Last night we had a lesson with another referral we received at the booth. He is 17, came to BYUI with his friend who is a convert, and is excited to learn. We taught the restoration last night and I was prompted to recite the first vision. This was the first time i have recited the first vision from memory and let me tell you, it brought such joy to my soul. I could not keep back the tears. The spirit testified so strongly to me in that moment that the words flowing from my lips were the words of a prophet, the words of truth. Brady felt the spirit, I could feel it and see it in his eyes. We planned a day for him to be baptized next month. He is also reading the Book of Mormon and is in an Intro the Book of Mormon class.

This event was an answer to the my fast. The Lord knows what we need and where we need improving. He places people in our lives for a reason and for that I am indeed grateful.

So remember Sarah? The girl who was raised Lutheran and whose parents practice devoutly? Well, we have kept in contact with her, and her boyfriend who is a return missionary gave us some great news this week. He told us that they had a conversation about how her parents were taking things. They do not agree at all but have come to the realization that their daughter is growing up and is becoming her own person. She told Brandon, her boyfriend, that she wants to get baptized right when she comes back next semester. NOW I'M HOPING AND PRAYING I DON'T GET TRANSFERRED! So exciting!

Indeed, this was a magnificent week. Not at all how I thought it would go, but somehow the Lord worked it out. I know that when we have faith, the Lord will make weak things strong unto us. I know that the Gospel has been restored so that we can receive eternal life with our families, Jesus Christ, and Heavenly Father. I love the Lord with all my being and will keep pressing on as I do his work!

Much Love,
Sister Fredrick
