We made it through transfers wheeew. Sister Shumate and I never want to leave this area. We've got so much lined up for this transfer, almost a baptism every week! A lot of the sister we serve with changed, so exchanges will be super fun and exciting. It's such a blessing to be able to go on exchanges. I learn so much in spending 24-hours in a different area of the mission and with a different companion. Exchanges always bring about miracles!!!!
Tamen is getting baptized on Friday. He's so ready. His interview will be tonight. Can't believe so much is happening. Heavenly Father has blessed us with the endurance and faith to keep going. I love this work and all the lives I am able to touch, but more so the lives that touch me.
Something in church yesterday stood out to me. Sister Fauvell said, " HIT THE GROUND RUNNING." She said this phrase can be interpreted different ways, but for her it means to hit the ground on your knees every morning then get up and go. We need the Lord on our side. We need to seek him for help EVERY day. I know that if I were to every go a morning without rolling out of bed and hitting my knees, I couldn't do this work. "I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord..." This hymn hits it spot on.
This life is wonderful, and when we fill it with Christ-like love, it can be eternal. I love you all and can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for your support. Keep up the good work!
Love,
Sister Fredrick
President,
I want to first off thank you for being at Anyssa's confirmation on Sunday and being a part of the circle. When Anyssa sat back down by me after, she told me that she was surprised at some of the things Bishop Anderson said in the blessing. She was uplifted by the comforting thoughts he shared about her family. Her family knew about her getting baptized, but were still upset with her for the decision and expressed disappointment. It hurt Anyssa, but she is staying strong and is already quite the little missionary! Bishop talked to her on Sunday and gave her the calling to be a ward missionary. So exciting!
This week we were able to give six church tours. Three of them were not even planned! One in particular was very powerful. It was with our investigator, Ernie, and his girlfriend whose family joined the church six years ago. We ended at the font. When we opened the doors, she immediately began to cry and Ernie stood there for a good two minutes saying nothing and gazing into the font. We sat down and asked how they were feeling. Mak, Ernie's girlfriend, told us that she was baptized in that same font. Ernie told us that he felt such peace and happiness come over him. We read 3 Nephi 11. At the end , both were in tears. We talked about Ernie's baptism date and how he was feeling about it. He said that he knew that it was the path he needed to take, but didn't know if he would be ready by the date we had set together. We extended an invitation to kneel and pray for comfort and clarity on the date. He liked the idea and we all got down on our knees and Ernie offered up the desires of his heart.
When the prayer was over, Ernie said he knew it was right. He knew he could do it and he couldn't wait! He couldn't stop smiling either. It was a beautiful experience for all of us present.
Sister Shumate is great, truly a wonderful missionary. We work well together, I like to think. Our area is giving us so much support and help. They are getting more and more engaged every week. We will start exchanges soon. Sister Smith and Brown are struggling a little. We were able to go over this week and help them feel comfortable and confident in their companionship and area. They've got their work cut out for them, but they always know where to turn for help.
Thanks for all you do!
Love,
Sister Fredrick
