Friends and Family,
Amazing weekend. We had a baptism for a foreign exchange student, Bryan, from Taiwan that we have been teaching for 4 months. His best friend from school and church baptized him and surprised him by saying the prayer in Chinese. His uncle had served a mission in Taiwan and helped him memorize the prayer last week. So many of Bryan's friends were there to support him. He has tons of American friends, as well as many foreign exchange student friends who are not members. They were all so happy for him. When the baptism program was over, all of his friends and family began to give him hugs. He was so touched by the spirit and cried really hard. I had never seen him cry before. The next day in sacrament meeting, after being confirmed, he bore his testimony. He said he has never felt so much love from so many people, as well as so much love from his Heavenly Father. He is going to change so many lives, just by his example. We are already teaching two of his non-member, foreign exchange student friends who were at the baptism. His example has sparked interest in others!
The week was great even though many of our investigators are not progressing. We have so many new investigators but are struggling to help them keep commitments and to keep lessons scheduled. Hopefully we can set up more lessons with them. We'll keep working hard!
So Sarah, the Lutheran student who comes back next semester has decided that she is going to get baptized no matter what her parents say. If her parents want to be there, she will wait till June, but if her parents refuse to take part, she will get baptized right when she comes back to Rexburg! I'm pretty sure I'm not getting transferred, or Sister Mafi. So i'll hopefully be here for it. If not, you're right, Merry Christmas to the next Sisters!
So being an on-campus Sister, we have an extra hard job to do. The school knows exactly who are members and who are not, but they cannot tell us. On Thursday I spent an hour of planning time calling 30 bishops, only 2 of the 6 stakes we cover. I simply informed them that we cover their ward and asked if they have any non-members in their ward. This is one of the ways we find out who are non-members. Another way, as I've told you, is the booth we set up across from the food court on campus. This is where we find most success. Friends inform us of room mates that want lessons and also students that are struggling. While we were at the booth one day, two students approached us and asked if we would be willing to let them do a documentary on the work we as sisters do on campus. We asked our Mission President if that would be okay, and he approved it right away! So here's the link

This is one of the ways we think the word will get out. It's funny because most students do not know why we are serving on campus because they do not know that there are on avg 80 non-member students per semester. Hopefully they'll stop asking that question now haha.
I love you all so much and hope you have a fabulous week!! The church is true, make sure you share your testimony with others through your works and words!
Love,
Sister Fredrick
