This week went by really fast. Zone meeting was great. Elder Vassau and Tillitson, zone leaders, are great leaders who inspire us to work harder and harder every week. Next month we have set the goal as a zone to have a baptism for each companionship. Quite the hefty goal, but it was inspired of President Brinkerhoff through the Lord, so I know it is possible. We are going to work as a zone to make this happen, uplifting companionships and encouraging our members to get engaged in the hastening of the work. Sister Jorgensen and I have directed all of our conversations with our dinner appointments towards hastening the work. The message we leave with each family is one of encouragement to get out and fellowship. We ask them to pick a family in need and invite them over so we can share a lesson with them. If they don't feel comfortable, we tell them we'll join them in contacting the family. This has really gotten some families fired up to do missionary work.
Sister Jorgensen and I had an investigator with a baptismal date drop us. James, BYUI college student, was set to be baptized the 22nd of this month. He is struggling with receiving an answer to the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. We promised him that he would receive and answer if he followed the promise found in Moroni. He fully understands this. He has either not sought an answer with a sincere heart, or he has denied the answer he has received. We keep praying for him and know we have done our best to invite him to come unto Christ. It's on his court now, in a sorts.
Our companionship is a learning one, that's for sure. Every day we learn how we can teach better, or follow the spirit better. It's a hard road, but it's worth every mile.
I have received letters or emails from all my Hawaii friends. Nathaneal emailed me last week. I am the worst at getting back to them though. On P-Days, which is the only time we have to write letters back, I just want to play outside or play sports with the zone. I know it's important to keep in contact with everyone, but P-Days are when I get to release all of my energy that's been bottled up all week. SO you best believe I show all the Elders up at basketball and dodgeball. Haha we have fun though. I enjoy our zone quite a bit. Transfer calls are next week and then transfers are the week following. I'm pretty sure Sister Jorgensen and I will stay together so I can do her second half of training. It's crazy how I've been in Rexburg my whole mission so far though. I've been serving at BYUI long enough to have done a semester of school here! It's funny, I know a lot of the students now through different activities we've attended on campus. If I were to come back to school here, it would be funny and feel weird to not be a missionary. And I would get double takes because students just see me now as a missionary and would be confused.
I find it so ironic that Rexburg was the area I least wanted to serve in in this mission, then I get called here first, then I end up staying here for a long time, and now I end up loving it and not minding serving with so many members. The Lord works in mysterious ways, as we've all heard. I believe this 100% now. The little things and the big things day-to-day just add up to such a firm belief in my heart that the Lord has a plan form me. He has set forth trials and mercies along my path of life. I know for a fact that this experience has impacted me in a way nothing else could. The hope, faith, and love experienced here has changed me. I want to do what the Lord wants me to do. I am his daughter and I want to make my Father in Heaven proud. His love is incomprehensible and all-consuming.
Love you all,
Sister Fredrick
