Humbled

This week was a week where I learned to rely on the Lord more wholeheartedly. Our goal was to set four dates. We had four investigators praying to know if the dates we extended to them were right. Three of these four investigators had to cancel due to being out of town. I was looking so forward to meeting with them and seeing their progression! I was pretty sad/upset when we received each call of cancellation. I didn't know what to do. Saturday rolls around and we leave the house. The snow has picked up again. All the snow had melted but now it is back. We're driving to one of our not progressing investigator's birthday pary to drop by and give him a little gift and set up a lesson. The same roads we always take..Well I guess I had gotten a little oo used to the nice snow-free roads and I forgot that you have to start slowing down earlier because you can slide on packed ice. Welp yeah we slid on the packed ice and the back of the car came around and bumped the stop sign. There's a little dent above the rear wheel. Also, we were stuck on the bank of the road. About 10 people pulled off to help, that's Idaho for ya. We got pulled out by Dakota's uncle hahahaha. We told him not to tell Dakota. I'll most likely have to pay for it. We don't know yet though. I'll keep you updated.

So we get back into the car and head on our way to see Jr. and we can't find the phone...ANYWHERE. We search the car up and down and cannot find it. So we retrace our steps and realize it must be where we slid off the road. So we drive back and get to searching the snow. Keep in mind that the phone is on vibrate and it is white. So it blends in perfectly with the snow. After looking for about 10 minutes we go back to the car to search one last time. No phone. At this point i'm exasperated, frustrated, and pretty angry at myself. All I can think to do is pray( this shouldn't be a last resort, don't follow my example). We say a prayer and get out to search one more time. As we are searching, another car pulls up. It's the son of a family we ate with previously that week. He says that the same thing happened to his friend and they found his, all we have to do is dig around. So as we're digging I call the phone with his phone. No more than 3 minuted later he finds it and it's vibrating. It's fully functional. AND there's a voice mail on it from me, when we were calling it, where you can hear me saying, "NO WAY NOOOOOWAY YOU FOUND IT." Needless to say, prayers are answered and we saved the voice mail :)

This awesome and blessed experience led to our appointment later that day with our only investigator left standing. James, BYUI student who has been taking lessons for two years. He tells us that he has not received an answer about knowing if the Book of Mormon is true. We read a talk to him on the Book of Mormon by Tad A. Callister. It lays out how the book is either of God or of some kind of counterfeit publication. This talk hit home to me and when we were done reading it I was prompted to bear my strong witness of the truthfulness of this divine book. James' room mate, a return missionary, then added his testimony and stated that he didn't know the Book of Mormon was true until he made the commitment to be baptized...then he received a witness by how calm and assured he felt going through with it.

This led to Sister Jorgensen inviting him to accept the date, to continue in his sincere prayers, and to go forward with faith. He accepted and I know for a fact that he will receive an answer to his questions before the 22nd of March.

I know the Lord heard my prayers. James setting his date was what I needed. I have learned a little more about how I have to put all my faith in the Lord's way and timing of answering prayers. Yeah, sometimes I get frustrated with the timing because I feel like the Lord should just tell them right then and there, but it's not my place. It's not my will.

I know Heavenly Father has our lives perfectly mapped out. He knows of little bumps in the road or stop signs that might hault our progression. He also knows what we need to make it through these slow ups. He helped me this week. For this, I am very grateful! I know he lives and loves me, as does my Savior. I know through trials, we become stronger. I know we can do anything, if we just put our trust in the Lord (Ether 12:27). Weak things can be made strong through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. How beautiful this is :)

Humbled,
Sister Fredrick
