Humility is a key to success. Sister Jorgensen has helped me to recognize this. We do not think any of our successes are due to our own efforts. We are merely the conduit in which the Lord sees fit to bring the knowledge of the Gospel to his children. This I am forever grateful for. I am learning so much about how my relationship should be with the Lord. I am learning how to better my relationship with him each and every day. I love this calling in which the Lord has blesses me to fulfill.
We were privileged to attend BYUI's devotional this Tuesday. The speaker, a business professor, spoke on three different symbols found throughout the scriptures. Salt, light, and leaven. Salt is referenced in Matthew 5:13 and 3 Nephi 12:13. These verses are very similar. Salt, when it's savor is lost, has no distinguishable properties. It just blends and becomes like other minerals. We, as followers of Christ, are distinguishable. Yet, when we lose our savor, or do not act and appear to be in accordance with the Savior's teachings, we too blend into our fallen world. Light is referenced in many scriptures. I particularly like 3 Nephi 13;22. Just read it ;) Leaven, causes bread to rise. Without it, bread would not grow and reach it's full potential. The human race, without the Gospel of Jesus Christ, cannot reach it's full potential. We as Children of a Heavenly Father, cannot return to Him without living the Gospel. As members, we leaven, or lift the world. The Gospel brings hope, and we are called to share it.
I am grateful for this knowledge. I am grateful for my calling. I am grateful for the example the Savior set for us to be baptized and receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost. I am grateful for the happiness that I have through these means. I love you all so much and want nothing more than for each of us to be happy. I know the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is the ticket.
Love and more love,
Sister Fredrick
