So I have seen a trend in my life...Missionary work leads to happiness and success in other parts of life. I think that sounds about right. Don't y'all agree?
I had a great week. Many miracles seen and many funny experiences. A student named Caleb, who we met 3 weeks ago, has been my favorite to teach recently. He seeks to learn so much. He read 1 Nephi 1-10 and highlighted verses that he didn't understand or he wanted us to expound upon. We have taught him the Restoration and the Plan of Salvation. Next on the docket is to show him around a church building and give him the opportunity to feel of the spirit. He does not feel like he will receive an answer to know if the church is true any time soon, but we have faith that leads us to think otherwise. Something I've learned recently is that when you open your heart up to change and answers, they will come on the Lord's time. We might not think it's possible, but anything and everything is!
We went on exchanges again this week and I went to a little town called Inkom (population of about 850). The sisters I was with are struggling a little bit. One is from Samoa an has been out a week and the other is from the states and has been out the same amount as me. They are having trouble communicating not just on a language-barrier level, but on an emotional level. It's really hard to help them see eye to eye. As I try to help, I constantly am questioning if what I am saying will help or hinder them. Ultimately, I know that as I seek the guidance of the Lord and the spirit, whatever I say will lead them to do good. It's really cool how much I've learned from the sisters i'm serving with. Each and every exchange I pick up on tidbits of information or characteristics that I want to bring back to my own proselyting area. I learn more from these sisters than I could possibly teach them! The beauty of leadership is the opportunity to minister and administer. TO learn from service along side others. I LOVE IT.
I am grateful for all I've been given and the love and support my leaders and you give me. I can't wait to see what will happen next weeks and the miracles that are to come!
LOVE,
Sister Fredrick
