YSA work is the BEST!

Great things happened this week, some miracles talked about below. Both Sister Jacobson and I are staying here another transfer...it's her last transfer and then she goes home! She will be going home to upstate New York, then heading back to BYU Provo in the Fall. She's been a great companion, and we're going to have one BOMB of a last transfer. We've already got some great things in the works.

YSA softball starts this week and we've got a ton of non-members invited to play. At the practice games about half the basketball team played on one of the ward's teams. We've been inviting everyone so it should be GOOD. Pretty sure we'll play, if not, we'll go around meeting the non-members and sharing the gospel with them. It's cool, most of the people we teach and that are in our wards, I would probably hang out with after the mission. We've got the "in" with pretty much all of them so they trust us with their friends and call us up all the time. YSA work is the best! My whole mission has been with YSA and on college campuses. I don't want that to change! I'll go wherever the Lord wants me to go of course....

I have been thinking a lot about how much support I have on the home front. As a sister training leader, I get to meet and learn a lot about other sister's situations. Some have difficulties and struggles speaking with family members and friends and I just feel so blessed to never get any negative feedback. It keeps me focused and motivated. Ready to go out and conquer the world, or ISU specifically at this time :)

President,
Weekly planning lead to miracles! Sister Jacobson and I felt the urge to drop one of our investigators. I guess I have never really dropped an investigator before because I have either never felt like I couldn't help them more, or I still saw a glimmer of hope. Mirian has had many spiritual experiences, yet has decided to not take a leap of faith and act upon them. What is hardest is that she knows she needs to read and pray to receive confirmations from the Holy Ghost, but she doesn't take the time to...showing us that the desire is not at the level it should be to be baptized.

As we discussed Mirian's situation, we decided that it would be best that we lay off a little and let her roommates continue to invite her to activities and such. We always go to her apartment because two of her roommates are RM's and are ward missionaries. So, we'll keep in touch, but just enough to let her figure out what she really needs and what matters most. When we came to this decision, I was scared. I knew we should drop her, but selfishly in the back of my mind I didn't want to have one less investigator. This may seem small, but I saw it as a huge leap of faith on our part and a "hands up in the air, i'm more fully relying upon you now Heavenly Father" moment.

Well, turns out, as I already knew but couldn't see past my natural-man glasses, that we were blessed with two new investigators this week! Thursday night, no more than 4 hours after we decided to drop Mirian, we had a lesson with Harley, a recent convert. But not just Harley, his brother too! Austin got to Idaho a few hours earlier and Harley invited him to the lesson. We quick went to the bathroom, changed up our lesson plan, said a prayer, and went back out with spiritual guns loaded.
As we taught Austin the restoration, he felt the spirit strongly. When I quoted the first vision, he was so enthralled. We asked him what he felt as we had been teaching. He said he felt peaceful and that what we were saying was the truth. Harley testified that those feelings were of the spirit. Now that the door was open, we asked if he would follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized by someone holding Priesthood authority. He said he would. We then told him that we were holding a baptismal service on July 12th and if he would prepare for that day. He said yes. YES. YESSS! We have since met with him another time and he came to church and passed out programs with his brother. We have also been prompted to move his date up to June 29th. He accepted and is going to have Harley baptize him!

This is just one example of great things that happened this week. The Lord truly blesses us with those who are prepared. If we thrust in our sickle, he will bring us the ripe.

Thanks for everything you do!
Sister Fredrick

See-sawing the other day at one of our Bishop's house!
