I don't have much time today, but I want to share something I've been thinking a lot about.
President instructed us this week on how we are to minister to those we serve, non-members, members, and fellow missionaries. He referred to Handbook 2. One of the bullet points on ministering as leaders outlines the thing that I've been pondering on a lot. It states that we must minister "one by one" as Christ does. The verses it references are in 3 Nephi. When Christ visits the people in America after his resurrection and visit to Israel, he comes and allows the people to see and feel the prints in his hands, feet, and sides one by one. They were individually invited to know it was He, the God of Israel.
With this new year starting, I have set a personal goal to minister as Christ did, one by one. I know that as I do this, my relationships will strengthen with others. My companion, investigators, friends, and family. I won't be a missionary for all of 2015 so this will carry out even off my mission. I hope develop the true love that Christ has, charity. By doing so, I hope this love and attitude spreads. Just today, we were grocery shopping and made a goal to meet someone new and invite them to learn more about the restored gospel. We were smiling at everyone and this man passed us by and smiled back. About 3 minutes later he comes back around and picks up a conversation by asking us where we're from. Later in the conversation we invited him to learn more and to be baptized. He said he loves his church and knows he is where he needs to be, but in the end, we got to know him. We got to know a new son of God. We showed him that, even if you aren't a member of the church or desire to be, we still love you.
Home teaching, visiting teaching, callings, family members, service opportunities, etc. THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS to minister to others. So this is my invitation to you: Get out there and make a difference. Be who Heavenly Father sent you here to be. Don't be afraid of the world. Face God. I love you all and will be praying for you!
Merry Christmas again and a happy New Year!
Sister Fredrick
