Press On With an Eye of Faith

Family & friends,

I've had an amazing week. Joyce had a family emergency come up, so she couldn't come to church, but she's still hanging in there and we'll see her Tuesday. Mitch has made a turn around and has a date for March 7th to be baptized. Chanelle is set to be baptized this Friday and we'll see her tonight. We taught a storm of lesson this week. The zone is working to find new investigators. We had a fireside with coach Larry Gilwex from "Forever Strong". Two of our YSA investigators came and loved it! We got to talk to him after and swap ideas and inspiration. He's an amazing man. The topic of his talk was the holy ghost. He said this' "The Holy Ghost does not compete" and "The Holy Ghost is a voice that speaks to our heart." So simply put, but sunk deeper into my understanding last night as he made his remarks. His remarks also helped Anthony and Louis consider a different way of thinking. It definitely got them pondering.

President is talking about combining the whole Highland stake that I will cover with whoever my new companion will be. I'm nervous, but super excited, as well. Much, much hard work is in the future. When I get off that plane and collapse into your arms, you'll have to know I did all I could to invite others to come unto Christ.

Love,
Sister Fredrick

Coach Gilwex!

Letter to Pres:
...As we discussed at lunch, it looks like Highland stake is not producing much in the other half of the stake. I am excited to see what you and the Lord come to decide for the work in the stake. Just know, I'm willing to do whatever you ask!

We found a new investigator last week in the Highland 2nd ward. She lives next door to two of our other investigators with dates. About a month ago we made contact for the first time, she was sick with a serious illness and requested a Book of Mormon but couldn't let us in because the illness was contagious. We stayed clear of her house for a few weeks but went back this week to find her all better and also very open to our message. As we talked to her, she told us her religious background, which included our church. She went to church with friends in California until the age of 12. She was actually planning to be baptized soon, but started having lots of questions. She asked some of the questions in class and the teacher didn't respond well. As a result, she didn't feel welcomed anymore and started to explore other churches. Diane has never been baptized, but knows that it is an important step toward returning to live with Heavenly Father. She had many questions that were answered in the Restoration pamphlet. We gave her one and committed her to read it before we came back to explain more about why there are so many religions, but at the same time, only one path to return to live with God. She was excited to read it and excited for us to come back.

Another cool part about this experience is one of our YSA's was out with us. She is leaving on her mission next month. While we visited with Diane, she was able to bear testimony along side us. When we got back in the car, she said "That was awesome!" I am so excited to take what I've learned tonight to my mission. What I love about teaching with members is that we aren't only teaching the investigator, but the member, as well. We teach them how to love all of God's children, how to share their testimony, and how to connect simple truths to every situation. The members' faith is increased and vision is raised. Two birds with one stone!

Sister 'Otukolo and I need to start seeking to find more families. We have many part-member families and over-aged youth families, but we just want a 100% non-member family. I am grateful for the example of the missionaries who taught my whole non-member family. I know it's possible and am anticipating the meeting!

We continue to pray for you and you ability to press on with an eye of faith. Thanks President!

Love,
Sister Fredrick
