Emily got baptized this weekend. She's gone through a lot building up the courage to follow Heavenly Father without parental support. Oh my, there were so many people at her baptism though, including Jose' and Whitney!
We had stake conference this weekend. The Highland stake has chosen to focus on the same theme as the youth. "Embark in the Service of God." D&C 4:2. President Campbell expounded on the word "embark" and found a synonym was "to plunge in". I immediately thought of the Fredrick family tradition on new years. Standing on the dock on a freezing cold winters night, staring in to the dark water of Smith lake. The challenge can seem daunting. Who would want to dive into 40 degree water and risk their pride on the chance of being beat by someone else? Yeah, life is a lot like this. We see something, or feel the Holy Ghost prompt us to do something hard and seemingly impossible...but we plunge in anyways. Once in the water, or in the process of change, it's shocking and you want to retreat, but you hold on just a little bit longer. You stick it through, because then you can brag the rest of the year. Then you can go to the hot tub and relax, just like when we can rest in our Heavenly Father's presence once more.
I love you all and can't wait to hear from you next week.
Love,
Sister Fredrick
